THE END

September 24, 2009

I am sick of words, language, thoughts.

“European Village”—says the sign. It is very nice of them to indicate that; it comes handy whenever one gets lost and thinks that he or she is wandering about somewhere in Australia or Antarctica.

Just what exactly do people remember when they commemorate events from times far past?

What is the main difference between Christians (Catholics in particular) celebrating and holding a funeral?

“I have an independent livelihood,” proclaimed the employee proudly. His boss smiled. Those who build his house, grow his food, produce his clothes and his other goods—they all giggled. Plants, animals, fungi and bacteria laughed a lot. The Earth cracked with laughter, and the Sun screamed so hard that his tears were rolling down the Milky Way.

I don't watch them, but their noise can be heard. The only thing I hate more than their stupid messages: those sickening tones of voices. Commercials are attacks on intelligence, language, sense of beauty, and hearing.

Women faces?

They can hardly be seen anymore…for their own caricatures.

“I've suffered more than anybody else, I've been persecuted mercilessly,” said one person.
“No, my pain is the greatest, my abusers never rest,” snapped another.
“How dare you?! I've been oppressed all my life!” shouted a third one.
One word led to another and soon they all started to fight.

Some people talk as if they were the world champions of suffering. Do they win on points or are their sufferings measured in a unit yet unknown to me?

A molehill right at my feet
Is towering high in my mind,
In its dark shadow, my sheet,
Time is leaving me behind.

The Elite's Prayer

Our Elite which art above us,
Hallowed by thy name.
Thy utopia come.
Thy will be done in earth, as it is above.
Give us this day our daily job.
And punish us for our debts,
as we punish our debtors.
And lead us not into idleness,
but deliver us from dissenters:
For thine is the utopia,
and the corporation, and the gore, for ever.

Amen.

One day the Parliament building could not take it anymore: it jumped into the Danube, swam down to the Black Sea and sank to the bottom with politicians trapped inside. Marine life recovered only decades later.

A man went to visit his friend. Having found the shutters and the door closed, he called out:
“Christopher, it's me, let me in!”
Nothing happened, so he went on:
     “Chris, are you home?”
     No answer. He shouted:
     “Chris!”
After an hour of calling out his friend's name, the insistent man hit upon a new idea:
“Chris, tell me if you are not home, don't make me guess!”

I would not be surprised

if countries that do not allow freedom of language still claimed to allow free speech. It does not matter though, because what free speech actually means all over the world is that in unimportant matters you are free to say whatever you want, and in important matters you are free to say what the masters and their slaves want to hear.

I envy

Anthony de Mello and A.S. Neill, just to mention two people. But I envy them in a positive sense. They seemed to have understood that our societies are insane, and despite this, they were at peace with the world. Sometimes I'd like to get a good laugh at ourselves, but all I can manage is a bitter laugh.

“When the Sage points to the moon…”

“…all that the idiot sees is the finger.” Or worse, he and his fellow idiots cut off his arm.

The Universe

is estimated to be 93 billion light years in diameter and some 13 billion years old. There are thought to be hundreds of billions of galaxies, each one having billions of stars. The number of planets in the Universe must be mind-boggling. And I had to be born right here, right at this time.

Grumbling

Oh, I just love you, folks, in this abasement park you call a country. I love you all, on all sides. You truly deserve each other, you fools. You do. With some luck you can continue to abase and abuse each other till the dying Sun burns up the Earth. And this last part is the one I love the best.

One day

on a planet far removed from sanity, the majority of a country with a purple minority had solved the “purple issue.” Why, in the usual way, of course: by a little weeding out the unwanted. The following day these gardener folks were all the more surprised to fall prey to their very own fellow gardeners. They felt very puzzled: crime should have disappeared, for everybody knew it was purple!

A gift

given with the expectation of receiving something in return is not a gift. Even expecting a thanks is problematic: How can you demand the feeling of gratitude? Are those who demand it prepared to settle for a white lie accompanied by a reluctant kiss?
